A 70-year-old man with Spanish nationality perished at Torrevieja’s Los Náufragos Beach.
At around 11:00 a.m. today, Saturday May 31st, numerous beachgoers reported seeing an unconscious swimmer floating face down in the sea. The individual was instantly saved, despite the fact that the lifeguard squad, which began in June, had not yet been deployed as of this last weekend in May.
Samu and First Aid
The sea conditions were ideal for swimming along the Vega Baja coast on Saturday; thus, all indications point to the swimmer fainting in the water.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation manoeuvres were done for more than 30 minutes, but the deployed SAMU and lifeguard services were unable to save the life of this man from Asturias who was enjoying Costa Blanca’s beaches.
Control
Local police also came to restore order due to the large crowd that had gathered. This is one of Alicante’s first beach deaths in 2025.
