The Orihuela Local Police have conducted a number of operations in recent days, resulting in the arrest of multiple individuals for alleged property offences, public health violations, and outstanding court arrest warrants. These actions were made possible by the installation of control and surveillance systems across the municipality, as well as the public’s assistance.
A patrol car stopped a van during a normal police check in the VillamartÃn district on the Orihuela Costa. The van, which attempted to flee the operation, was examined, and two boxes containing a substantial quantity of a plant substance, most likely marijuana, were discovered, together with a precision scale and vacuum-sealing equipment. The drug were weighed, resulting in a total of more than seven kilogrammes. The occupants were detained for alleged public health violations.
Search and arrest warrants
Another operation was conducted when a person reported the presence of a lady attempting to break into parked car on the street. A patrol immediately discovered a person matching the description supplied, and the complainant recognised him. After identifying her, it was discovered that she had a warrant for her arrest and imprisonment. She was detained on the scene, advised of her rights, and transported to police headquarters.
Stolen cars
Similarly, on May 24th, during another traffic stop in the city centre, a high-end vehicle with foreign license plates was found to be occupied by two unauthorised immigrants. After confirming the vehicle’s vehicle identification number, the system determined that it had been stolen and was listed in worldwide databases.
