The second edition of Cartagena’s StreetFood Market, which blends foreign cuisine, music, humour, children’s activities, and crafts, will take place on the port esplanade from today Friday June 13th to Sunday June 15th. During the MedCruise assembly presentation, Mayor Noelia Arroyo stated that admission will be free and open to the general public.

“To communicate with the people of Cartagena the significance of this assembly for us, we have organised activities open to all under the name Cartagena Cruise Days from Friday to Sunday. Notable among these is the second annual Street Food Market, which will feature 14 vehicles and a variety of activities. We’ll feature magic shows, stand-up comedy, kids’ activities, and a craft fair. In addition, we will have a big musical program featuring the legendary Pancho Varona, lyricist for Sabina, Luz Casal, and Estopa.

This year’s vintage food trucks will serve a wide range of international cuisines, from grilled Argentine meats, Mexican tacos, and Venezuelan arepas to Asian cuisine, gourmet burgers, pulled pork, and trademark hot dogs. The venue will also include bars serving craft beer, soft drinks, and mojitos.

Over the weekend, concerts and shows will take place on two stages. Tribute bands, including Estopa, Queen, and the Rolling Stones, will perform alongside singer-songwriter Pancho Varona, who frequently collaborates with Joaquín Sabina. Alberto Martínez and Juan Ibáñez, who have been on El Hormiguero, will perform stand-up comedy.

Children’s activities will take centre stage, with a variety of options including creative workshops, clown acts, magic, and storytelling, all geared to delight families and stimulate intergenerational contact.

In addition to food and entertainment, the festival will include a craft market with 20 stalls dedicated to vintage products, rare designs, and items manufactured by local producers, providing an alternative for people looking for unique items while also supporting small companies.

The Cartagena City Council and the Port Authority (APC) collaborate to develop the street food market. This institutional endeavour aims to boost the local economy, encourage public use of the port, and improve Cartagena’s tourism and cultural image. This event, which coincides with the MedCruise General Assembly, helps to strengthen Cartagena’s strategic position in the cruise tourism sector and promotes it as a prominent cultural and recreational destination in the Mediterranean.
