Police surveillance and public complaints resulted in the arrest of a driver for alleged major disobedience to law enforcement personnel and a crime against road safety, after a nearly 10-kilometre chase.
The incident occurred recently while two Local Police patrols were monitoring traffic on one of the main roads leading into the Ciudad Quesada residential area. This occurred after locals filed many complaints about cars travelling at fast speeds.
During the patrol, the police heard a high-powered car accelerate rapidly. At the same time, many onlookers waved to them, claiming that the car was the one reported. Some residents had to move out of the way.
After verifying the scenario, the cops engaged in a chase, putting their own personal safety at risk in an attempt to catch up with the high-powered car.
The vehicle drove at high speeds through the Ciudad Quesada residential neighbourhood before entering the CV-905, AP-7, and CV-91 motorways, ignoring the police’s warning lights and beeps. It also overtook multiple vehicles on both sides, breaking all traffic rules.
The hunt came to a stop when police were quickly deployed at the entrance to the neighbouring town of Guardamar del Segura. They were able to create a traffic block and immobilise the vehicle with the help of local police. After a long chase, the motorist was apprehended for claimed major disobedience to law enforcement personnel and a violation of road safety. The car was eventually towed away, and the driver was arrested and a court order was issued.
