The Guardia Civil arrested three men in Sax for allegedly violating public health after discovering more than five kilos of marijuana ready for distribution in their van.
The incident occurred as a patrol from this Alicante municipality was conducting a preventative check in a “specially guarded” area due to the presence of some properties nearby that “aroused suspicion” among the officers.
When police identified the occupants of a van, they noticed a strong marijuana odour emanating from within the vehicle, motivating their action.
Following the search, the Guardia Civil discovered a huge rubbish bag in the rear containing marijuana buds weighing around 5.5 kilos, according to a statement.
Furthermore, after doing the necessary checks, police discovered that the vehicle’s driver had already been recorded for similar events months prior.
The three men, aged 39, 44, and 51, all of Spanish nationality, were detained on suspicion of cocaine trafficking. They were then hauled before the Villena Investigating Court No. 3.
