The Elche Local Police (Alicante) have arrested a man accused of abusing his partner and wounding four municipal officials while being detained at the Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport.
A witness saw this foreign male viciously abuse a woman and quickly alerted urban traffic officials, according to a municipal council statement.
Multiple Local Police patrols were rushed to the area, where they found the victim and the accused, who was hostile and physically assaulted multiple officers, allegedly hurting them during the arrest.
During the transfer, the detainee hit one of the patrol vehicle’s windows, breaking the outside frame and knocking out the windscreen. He allegedly hurled his head and part of his torso out of the driving vehicle, prompting authorities to pull over “to ensure the detainee’s safety and transfer him to another police vehicle, which was also damaged by the strong impacts.”
The Local Police stated that the detainee exhibited “strong aggression” and that medical professionals “had to use restraints to examine him and prepare a medical report.”
After corroborating the witness’s account, the victim, a British national, travelled to a nearby town where a relative lived. “This event once again highlights the importance of swift police intervention and public cooperation so that incidents like this are prosecuted and do not go unpunished,” the municipality’s board said.
