Torrevieja Council’s local government board declared the urgency and approval of the planning project for the integration of the Port and city in the section between Acequión and the Levante Dike, which is part of the Port’s urban development works file.
Federico Alarcón, councillor and secretary of the board, explained that this is the final intervention in what is known as the port landfill area, with only the supply and installation of the hippie huts remaining, which are now temporarily located on Avenida de la Estación and will be put out to tender “shortly.”
This project has a tender value of over 4 million euros (3,929,401 euros) and a length of approximately eight months. It is expected to be finished by early summer 2026, with a focus on reducing execution time.
These improvements include the construction of the port access from the Hombre del Mar (Man of the Sea) to the Levante Dike (Levant Dike) and the connecting walkway to the new recreational facility. Alarcón added that these works, along with other previously approved projects such as the port’s primary and secondary electrification, the pier edge, the Levante Dike, the cantilevered walkway, and so on, aim to cover all of the individual interventions to give them a unified appearance, including all of the street furniture, lighting, and landscaping integration, as well as the area’s ornamentation.
Three Kings’ Parade
In addition, the governing board accepted the City Council’s second extension of its contract with Baluarte Eventos y Espectáculos for the Three Kings’ Parade. In this case, as in previous editions, the amount is €237,258 for 2026, effective until January 1, 2027.
The city has spent more than €200,000 on this event since increasing it in 2023. That same year, it offered for the first time a multi-year contract to organise the royal procession and avoid last-minute rushes, giving €711,000 to organise the Three Kings’ parades over the next four years.
Alarcón also stated that the business Aedas Homes OPCO, which was given Lot 2 (plot P-27, which is intended to contain 195 houses), has been removed from the bidding process for the construction of public housing in the La Hoya sector because it has not offered a clear assurance. As a result, the contract has been provisionally granted to Livanto Promociones.
In this regard, the councillor stated that this company was subject to a takeover offer, which means that another company acquired it but has not to deposit the needed guarantee payment to proceed with the final award.
Also, regarding the pest control service contract, the governing board agreed to proceed to the next company—Tarsi—to continue the process, which is scheduled to be awarded “next week,” Alarcón stated.
