The man faces eight years in prison for assaulting the Aigües City Council’s Animal Protection Councillor with a club and hitting her over her care for the municipality’s stray animals.
The trial will take place today, Wednesday, September 24th, at the Alicante Court. He is accused of assaulting a member of the local council and causing physical harm.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the councillor caught him pouring drinks into the council-installed cat feeding stations.
The event began on April 21st, 2022, when the councillor received notification that a man was pouring something into the animal feeders.
The victim went to the site and asked the defendant what he was doing.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the man became violent and used a club to beat the councilwoman.
“He then hit her many times and shoved her against the wall before several neighbours rushed to her rescue. The woman took 57 days to recover from the injuries she sustained as a result of the incident.
