A 37-year-old suspected paedophile wanted by Dutch authorities for sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl has been apprehended in the Alicante town of Hondón de las Nieves.
The man was subject to a European arrest warrant (EAW) issued by Dutch authorities for actions taken in 2017.
The fugitive was wanted in his home country for “obscene acts” against a young woman. According to the National Police, he was sentenced to 18 months in the requesting nation, with one year, five months, and twenty-five days remaining to serve.
The International Fugitives Group of the UDYCO of the General Judicial Police Station discovered that the man could be living in Hondón de las Nieves.

The police operation was effective, and the officers in charge of the investigation tracked down and detained the sought man. Following the police investigation, he was taken before the National Court in charge of the matter.
Fugitives
The province of Alicante is home to fugitives from all across Europe seeking refuge from the law.
Fugitive arrests are common in police operations across the region.
Only on Thursday last week, September 25th , the Civil Guard apprehended an international fugitive wanted by Portugal for a murder committed in April 2022.
The inquiry was initiated in response to a notice provided by the UK’s National Crime Agency, which warned of the suspect’s likely presence in Spain after departing Portugal.
The man, wanted by Portuguese police for homicide, apparently chose Spain to hide out, with the help of collaborators in his entourage and the British community living on the Mediterranean coast.
The operation culminated in the province of Alicante, where detectives were able to locate and arrest the fugitive after conducting intensive surveillance.
