National Police officers arrested a man at the Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport who was trying to leave for the UK with various pieces of jewellery worth 7,000 euros that he had stolen from an aunt living in Alicante.
The victim’s son told the National Police officers at the airport about the incident. He said he got a call from his mother after she noticed that several pieces of jewellery were missing from their home in the Alicante area of San Juan Playa.
The victim saw that her jewellery box was missing a pearl necklace with a diamond brooch and a diamond ring, each worth €7,000. She thought the person who did it might be her nephew, who she knew had to take a trip to the UK, but they didn’t know when.
The victim and her son tried to call the suspect’s nephew once they found out the jewellery was missing, but he didn’t answer, so they called the police.
The airport police station’s task squad rapidly spread out over the airport complex to find the suspect. They finally found the suspect in one of the restaurants.
The individual was arrested on suspicion of stealing since he had the reported jewellery in his rucksack. The police were able to get back all of the stolen jewellery, which was then given back to its owner. The police looked into the case and then arrested the man and brought him before the Elche investigating court.
