The 8th Blood Donation Marathon will take place next Monday, October 27th, at the Teatro Principal in Alicante. It is being put on by the Valencian Community Blood Transfusion Centre. Director Vicente Seva is promoting the event in Alicante theatres these days with the motto “Join the movement that saves lives.”
Mobile teams will be at the famous location from 9:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. to make it easier for as many people as possible to donate to this charity event, which has become a city tradition.
As part of the companies’ collaboration, all contributors who take part in this edition will get special presents. El Principal will give away three double tickets to the play “El Crédito. El Musical,” and the Association of Concessionaire Merchants in Municipal Markets of Alicante will give away five €20 vouchers that can be used at stalls in the city’s markets (Babel, Benalúa, Carolinas, and Central).
There will be drawings for tickets to the Teatro Principal and for gift cards
Kinépolis
Vicente Seva, the director of the Alicante Film Festival, has made a new commercial to encourage blood donations for the marathon this year. The Kinépolis Plaza Mar 2 Cinemas, which are also part of the charity initiative, showed the film on Tuesday. The spot will be on their screens until the day before the marathon.
Dr. Mabel Ortiz de Salazar, who runs the blood transfusion centre in Alicante, thanked the volunteers for their continued support of the blood donation campaigns. She also said, “These marathons are a unique opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of donating blood.” Each donation can save up to three lives, and Alicante has always been a great place to show support.

Cristina Cutanda, the Alicante City Councillor for Health, stressed the city’s support for the project. “We at City Hall continue to enthusiastically support any efforts to promote health and community. We ask everyone to come to the Teatro Principal on the 27th and do something small but important to help.
Every day, 650 people need to give blood
Every day, 650 donors in the Valencian Community work together to save the lives of many patients. One donation can help three people, and keep in mind that blood can’t be made, although it is necessary for many medical and surgical procedures. Everyone in society has a duty to donate blood, since anyone could need it in the future. To give blood, you only need to be over 18, weigh more than 50 kg, and be in excellent health.
María Dolores Padilla Olba, the director of the Teatro Principal in Alicante, says that the theatre fully supports the Transfusion Center’s work to “raise awareness and educate citizens about the importance of blood donation.”
Message
Vicente Seva, who made the spot and is in charge of the Alicante Film Festival, said, “It has been an honour to use our creativity for such an important cause.” We want everyone to get this message since giving blood is a method to bring people together and motivate them.
The centre, which is part of the Ministry of Health, would like to thank the Teatro Principal of Alicante for letting them use their space for this charity event again. They would also want to thank the Alicante City Council, Vicente Seva, Cines Kinépolis, Mercados Alicante, and all the other people who helped.
