As part of the Sustainable Tourism Destination Plan (PSTD), the Orihuela Tourism Department has put out a bid for the construction of a system to monitor pollutants at key locations across the city. This program will keep an eye on air quality and take action to stop pollution from getting too high. This will make sure that Orihuela is a safe and long-lasting place for tourists to visit.
Sensors placed at important places throughout the municipality
The devices will be placed at tourist information centres all across the municipality, such as Calle Jade in Orihuela Costa, the Orihuela Town Hall, and the Gabriel Miró Roundabout. These sensors will measure different aspects of air quality, such as NO2, SO2, CO, O3, PM1.0, PM2.5, and PM10, giving us reliable information about the environment at the destination.
System for monitoring and giving early warnings
We will use monitoring and early warning software to manage all the information we collect. This software will provide us real-time updates on the values of each parameter and immediately find any circumstance that could put public safety at risk. The system will have set limits, so it will respond right away when pollution levels are too high. The project’s budget is €51,653.12. The Ministry of Industry and Tourism is giving money to the project as part of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, which is funded by the European Union, Next Generation EU.
