On Saturday afternoon, October 25th, a 65-year-old man, whose name has not been made public, went to the Santa Lucía Hospital in Cartagena after being stabbed in the neck by an unknown individual who tried to cut his throat.
According to emergency authorities, the attacker ran away following the attack on Calle Ribera in San Javier. Police are looking for them.
The National Police called 112 and asked for immediate medical help for a man with a neck injury.
In really bad shape
People who know about the case said that the victim was taking money out of an ATM when someone attacked him, allegedly to steal from him, and sliced his throat.
The man was in a pub and was in his 60s. He said he was going to take money out of an ATM when a man came up behind him, tried to steal his money, and then attacked him with a knife. After that, he fled away. Witnesses called the National Police hotline at 091.
Police officers from Cartagena, both local and national, got to the site and discovered the man badly hurt, bleeding, and unconscious. He required medical help right now. The officers dialled 112 to ask for an ambulance to come.
Emergency Services said that a mobile emergency unit (UME) from the 061 Emergency and Health Emergency Management Department were dispatched. The paramedics treated the man, who was unconscious and badly hurt, and took him to the nearest hospital’s A&E. He was taken in quite sick.
The culprit has been found, and police think they have known him for a long time. The man faces being charged with attempted murder.
