A woman in Orihuela was arrested by National Police officers for stealing goods from the clothes store where she had been employed for many years. She then sold them online, costing the business a total of 29,692 euros.
According to a statement from Police Headquarters, the crime was reported by representatives of a clothing firm who, after conducting an internal inquiry, found that an employee had stolen things to sell through two popular online marketplaces for used goods and apparel.
An extensive inventory check was carried out in response to a client’s complaint that she wished to return a piece of apparel that, based on the store’s customer records, she had not bought.
After conducting an inquiry, they discovered that a three-year veteran of the organisation had been taking clothes and other stuff out of one of the warehouses and reselling them online.
They really found out that she printed the shipping labels for her products herself. They also got pictures of the worker packing a store item into her own bag.
The suspect’s online sales platforms were searched by the judicial police officers from the Orihuela Police Station who were in charge of the case after the complaint. They found up to 208 transactions and promoted products on one of them, and 878 ads overall on the other.
Since December 2021, when she started working at the business, the suspect has placed 255 ads pertaining to the goods that the victims classified as company property and that they verified were stolen.
Because the same criminal act had been committed over time, the investigation concluded that the suspect had committed continuous theft since she started working at the impacted company and had established “a kind of parallel store” on platforms for the sale of used clothing using stolen goods from well-known brands.
Because of all of these factors, a 50-year-old lady has been detained by the National Police on suspicion of stealing repeatedly. She was turned over to the local investigating court after the police inquiry.
