The High Court of Justice of the Balearic Islands (TSJB) agreed with Ryanair and upheld the firing of a handling worker for insulting a female coworker at the Palma de Mallorca airport offices.
The event happened on November 21st, 2023, when an employee of the Irish company insulted and threatened the woman because she had three shifts reduced.
“That’s how you treat your staff, like dogs, as if they are worthless.” I’m sick of it,” he said to her. He yelled at her in a more hostile way, saying, “You’re laughing in my f*cking face,” and even said, “I hope nothing bad happens to you in December.”
The victim told the National Police about what happened that same day. The complaint went to a Palma investigative court, which put the case on hold for now. Two weeks later, on December 5th, Ryanair started disciplinary action against her. On December 12th, he was fired for very bad behaviour.
The man sued the corporation and got his job back, as well as €7,878 in damages. But the TSJB (High Court of Justice) has overruled the decision, which means that the disciplinary dismissal is still valid. You can still appeal the decision to the Supreme Court, so it is not final yet.
