In November, the temperature reached 28 degrees Celsius. It looks like autumn is taking its time getting here. The weather this weekend should be nice, with temperatures on the Alicante coast on Sunday, November 2nd possibly going beyond 28 degrees Celsius. So, the province’s beaches are open for swimming again.
After last week’s hot, tropical weather, with temperatures over 32 degrees Celsius and several tropical nights, this weekend’s weather will be more like late May or June than November. The beaches will be full of sunbathers again, although it won’t be as scorching as last week. Benidorm is the only place with lifeguards on duty.
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) of the Valencian Community says that “calm weather is expected in the coming days, with maximum temperatures exceeding 25 °C on the coast, even exceeding 28 °C on the coast of Valencia and Alicante on Sunday.”
Even though the winds changed from west to east last Sunday and the first frost was recorded from Monday night to Tuesday, the temperatures are still higher than they should be for this time of year.
The Avamet network says that the hottest temperature this Thursday was 28.2 degrees in Orihuela. Almoradí had a temperature of 27.8, Albatera had a temperature of 27.1, Crevillent and Redován had a temperature of 26.7, Cox had a temperature of 26.6, Aspe had a temperature of 26, and l’Orxa had a temperature of 25.6.
Yellow alert deatcivated
Also, even though there was a yellow alert on the northern coast on Thursday because of the chance of heavy rain, it was deativated in the morning, which was earlier than expected. The rain didn’t come, except for a few drops that didn’t leave more than 0.2 litres per square metre.
Over the next several days, the temperature along the coast is predicted to reach highs of around 25 or 26 degrees Celsius and lows of about 14 or 15 degrees. On Sunday, the temperature is expected to rise slightly, reaching a high of 28 degrees and a low of 17 degrees. Then, on Monday, the temperature is anticipated to dip to a high of 24 degrees and a low of about 14 degrees again.
And in the middle of the country, highs are anticipated to be about 23 or 24 degrees, with a drop on Monday as well. It’s important to remember that there is a chance of rain late Sunday and into Monday.
The forecast
Aemet says that the weather in the province of Alicante this Friday will generally be clear, with some high clouds coming and going. The temperatures will mostly stay the same, although the minimum temperatures in the southern part will drop a little. There will be light breezes from the west, with moderate gusts from the southwest along the shore in the afternoon.
It looks like Saturday will be generally clear with a few high clouds. The temperatures will be very steady. There will be light winds from the west, but they will pick up in the late afternoon.
And on Sunday, the weather in the Valencian Community is expected to be partly cloudy, with increasing clouds in the morning. There may be light rain in the early hours inland, and it can’t be ruled out in other places. In the late afternoon, rain is expected in northern Alicante and along the southern coast of Valencia. The weather will stay essentially the same, but the lowest temperatures will go up a little in the southern half of the region and the highest temperatures will go down a little in Castellón’s inland areas. Winds will be light to moderate from the west. In Castellón, they will become moderate from the northwest in the second half of the day. Along the Valencian coast, they will be moderate from the northeast, while elsewhere they will be light and changeable.
