The Ministry of Equality has verified that the stabbing death of Cristina, a 37-year-old woman in Alicante, was a hate crime. Her body was found in her home on October 24th in a stage of decay.
Cristina’s partner and a friend of his are in jail before their trial because the National Police say they committed the crime to steal 250,000 euros that the woman got after her mother died.
Two weeks after the crime, the inmates had already spent more than 100,000 euros. The body was found stashed in a sofa in the woman’s house.
No previous complaints
In a statement, the Ministry of Equality denounced the murder of a lady because of gender violence and said that there had been no previous allegations of gender violence against the alleged attacker.
Equality says that this case makes the total number of women killed in Spain this year because of gender violence 35, and the total number of women killed since 2003, when this data started being gathered, 1,330.
Ana Redondo García, the Minister for Equality, and Carmen Martínez Perza, the Government Delegate against Gender Violence, want to say again how strongly they condemn and reject this femicide and offer their complete support to the victim’s family and friends. The Minister and the Delegate both ask that institutions, government agencies, and society as a whole work together to stop more deaths right away.
The Government Delegation against Gender Violence, which is part of the Ministry of Equality, wants everyone to know that the phone number 016, the email address 016-online@igualdad.gob.es, the WhatsApp channel at 600 000 016, and the online chat on the website violenciagenero.igualdad.gob.es are all available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
You can get help with finding resources and understanding the rights of victims of all types of violence against women by calling 016. They are open every day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and speak 53 languages. They also have services for people with disabilities.
In an emergency, you can also dial 112 or the National Police’s (091) or Civil Guard’s (062) emergency numbers, which is another thing it does. You can use the ALERTCOPS app to send an alarm signal to the police with your position if you can’t make a call in a perilous scenario.
“The victim can engage these support services, as can anyone who knows of or suspects a case of gender-based violence. “The ministry says that it is the duty of all of society.
