A 71-year-old French hiker was rescued yesterday, Monday, November 10, in Peñón de la Lobera, in the municipality of Cox, after suffering a malleolus fracture when he twisted his foot while hiking the PVR-54 trail.
According to the Alicante Provincial Fire Consortium, the warning came in at 12:08 p.m., and the operation ended at 1:44 p.m.
The Special Mountain Rescue Group (GER) and the Alpha 01 rescue helicopter were sent to the location, which made it possible to get to the injured person in a hard-to-reach place.
Once they found him, firemen gave him first aid, gave him pain medicine, and used a rescue triangle to get him into the helicopter. After that, he was escorted to the San Vicente fire station and put in a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance for more medical care.
