Richard Gere will light up the Christmas tree in the Plaza Circular in Murcia, on Friday, November 28th.
Richard Gere is going to Murcia next week for a charity event for the Hogar Sí Foundation, which he has been a member of for years, according to several news sources and Efe. The Murcia City Council has asked him to take part in this ritual, which is how the city welcomes Christmas.
Gere joins other famous people from the sports and social worlds who have lit the Great Christmas Tree of Murcia, like tennis player Carlos Alcaraz and singer Ruth Lorenzo.
The Gere couple has moved from Spain to the United States, but they will still go to the premiere of the Hogar Sí Foundation documentary “What Nobody Wants to See” in Madrid on November 24th. The documentary gives a voice to people who are homeless in Spain through the stories of Mamen, Javi, Latyr, and Pepe. Its goal is to raise awareness of this issue and find solutions.
The enchantment of Christmas will come to life for the first time ever at Plaza del Cardenal Belluga in the heart of Murcia tomorrow, Saturday. At 7 p.m., there will be a great show to kick things off.
The event, which hasn’t been formally publicised yet, will be part of other Christmas celebrations. For example, the city’s Christmas lights switch-on ceremony will happen on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in Plaza Belluga. Martín Savi, a young Argentinian tenor with one of the best new voices in the world, will sing Christmas songs with Ángel Luis Carrillo, who will lead the UCAM Symphony Orchestra. They will work together to put on an amazing spectacle on a big stage, with effects like snow, smoke, and fireworks that will make the spectators feel like they are at a party.
Cortylandia is also coming back to Murcia for another year with the family-friendly production “The City of Time,” which will open this Friday at 7:00 p.m. on Avenida de la Libertad, where more than twenty actors and animated constructions will bring the iconic Christmas performance to life.
