The National Police have arrested three people in Elche, all between the ages of 55 and 69, for their alleged involvement in a number of crimes, such as fraud, document forgery, receiving stolen items, and being part of a criminal group.
The inquiry found that the people who were arrested stole 45,000 euros from a local business by buying two cars and then selling them to other businesses for a lot less money, making an illegal profit of 36,000 euros.
A businessman, who is now the sole administrator of the impacted company, alleged that his former partner and previous administrator had taken 45,000 euros from the company’s account and bought two cars with it.
After the complaint, the agents of the Elche Judicial Police started an investigation that showed that the cars had been sold to another company for much less than their initial price in less than a month.
This sequence of transactions made it seem like there was a planned scheme involving a number of people.
Thereafter, the cars were sold again, this time to a firm and an individual. One of them was sold for 955 euros, even though it had been bought for 26,620 euros just two months before.
The other vehicle was finally bought by a third firm, which is probably in good faith as it paid a little more than the price at which it was fraudulently bought.
False paperwork
The agents found that the former partner of the impacted businessman had sent out fake invoices in the name of the company he was in charge of, but the company did not get any money from them.
The agents found significant traces of coordination between the buyers of the cars and the accused because of the prices and the way they paid.
So, after finding two other people who were part of the scheme, they all were arrested as suspected criminals for the crimes that each of them was accused of: fraud, falsifying documents, and being part of a criminal group for the complainant’s ex-partner, and receiving stolen goods and being part of a criminal group for the other two detainees.
The police investigation was done, and all of the steps taken were reported to the courts in the town of Elche that were looking into the case.
