The Guardia Civil is looking into the death of an Irish man who was found dead in a residence on the Orihuela Costa.
Neighbours of the residence called the Orihuela Local Police at about 10:15 a.m. yesterday, Wednesday December 3rd. They hadn’t seen any activity in the house for some days and had noticed strange smells and signals in the area around the house.
Results

The first police on the scene were Local Police, and they found the front door open. The first forensic report said that they found a man’s body inside with a head injury and clear indicators that he had died about a week earlier.
A woman who was with him sustained injuries to her body and limbs. Emergency personnel took care of her and then took her to Torrevieja University Hospital, where she is now in a poor condition. At first, the same sources wrongly said that the woman had died. The ages of both people have not been made public. The man who died took care of the woman.
They were both found in the same room of the house, although they were only partly dressed. There were also signs of food and drink left behind. The property lies on Avenida Escorpiones, a long, busy avenue that runs between the southern section of Torrevieja and the northern coast of Orihuela.
Death by natural causes
The first theories rule out that it is a case of gender violence, but the Guardia Civil, which has a Judicial Police squad at Torre de la Horadada (Pilar de la Horadada), is still looking into what happened in this sad event.
There were no guns or knives at the scene. At first, robbery is not thought to be the reason. The early signs point to the man dying of natural causes, although additional lines of inquiry are still being looked into.
Home
The housing development where these murders happened is one of many residential districts with thousands of homes that make up the Orihuela coastal conurbation. There are more than 30,000 people who live here all year round, as well as a considerable number of people who move around a lot, a mostly foreign population, a large number of seniors, a wide range of cultures, and a lot of people who work in other countries and go back and forth often.
There are a lot of Irish people living on the Vega Baja coast, mainly at Orihuela Costa (nearly 700) and Torrevieja (400).
