Police in Elda have arrested a man and a woman on suspicion of being narcotics traffickers. A police roadblock halted the suspects. They were driving about with more than nine kilos of marijuana buds hidden in the trunk of their car.
The event happened while a patrol squad in uniform was doing a routine check in Elda. They stopped a car with two occupants in it during the check. When they saw the police, the people inside started to appear frightened and provide answers that didn’t make sense when the police asked them questions.
After that, the police inspected the car. They asked the driver to open the trunk, and inside they found a cardboard box with numerous bundles of marijuana buds in it. It weighed more than nine kilogrammes.
After finding the drugs, police detained the two people for being involved in drug trafficking. The person who drove the car was also charged with a traffic offence. He had already lost his driver’s licence.
Police set up roadblocks to stop drug trafficking
The National Police are stopping cars and people at several places in the cities to examine them for safety. These actions are part of the ongoing efforts to keep an eye on and suppress drug trafficking and other illegal activity.
The inspections are done randomly and in an organised way to make the public safer and stop crimes that have to do with drug usage and distribution. These steps are meant to make sure that everyone is safe and happy.
