Next Sunday, December 21st, the animal sanctuary Asoka Orihuela, which runs the town’s municipal animal protection centre, will hold a special Christmas edition of its Solidarity Dog Walk. This long-running fundraising effort attempts to help the shelter stay open by boosting public awareness and encouraging responsible pet adoption.
The programme lets people walk one of the shelter dogs, which gives them a chance to interact with animals that are searching for homes. The group says, “This walk is more than just a way to raise money; it’s also a way to show them love and give them a chance to find a home.”
The charity walk will be held at the animal shelter’s premises on Camino Lo Arques, s/n, in San Bartolomé.
There will be three sessions to make it easier for people to join: at 10:15, 10:45, and 11:15 a.m. You need to donate €5 to take part, and all of the money will go towards the animals’ food, medical care, and general well-being at the shelter. There will also be an introductory information session for anyone who wants to volunteer with the association after the three sessions.
People who want to participate must email asokaorihuela@gmail.com ahead of time to secure their spot and let them know which session they want to attend. People who can’t go can also help by donating through the animal shelter’s methods.
The Solidarity Dog Walk is available to everyone, including families and singles. It has become an important way to raise awareness about animal abandonment and encourage responsible adoption, especially during the holidays.
Sale of 2026 calendars for charity
Asoka Orihuela is still selling its 2026 charity calendar at the same time.
The calendar costs 6 euros and shows dogs and cats from the shelter. Its goal is to tell their tales and assist pay for the shelter’s everyday bills.
You can buy calendars during the charity walk or by getting in touch with Asoka Orihuela directly. Each calendar sold helps directly with the rescue and treatment of abandoned animals in the area.
Asoka Orihuela strengthens its message of commitment, empathy, and responsibility towards animals through events like the Solidarity Dog Walk and the sale of calendars. It asks citizens to work together to keep saving lives.
