Next Thursday, the Governing Board of the San Vicente del Raspeig City Council will give out the contract for Phase II of the Municipal Swimming Pool and Water Centre project. The contracting committee decided on the winning bid from the two companies that filed bids on time. The winning bid came from a joint venture between Abala Infraestructuras and Orthem Servicios y Actuaciones Ambientales.
The Mayor and Pachi Pascual, the councillor for Architecture, have announced “the unblocking of a much-desired and requested project that will give the city a modern, accessible, and spacious Water Centre with four new swimming pools.” The project will cost more than €4.2 million and take 21 months to build, starting from the date the contract is signed. The most money will be spent in 2026, when most of the construction will be done. The opening date is set for 2027.
The Mayor was happy that “we can finally start building much-needed and important facilities for our athletes, as well as for our seniors and all the people who live in San Vicente.” Pascual said, “There is a lot of work behind this project, and I want to thank the municipal technicians, especially those in Architecture, who have had to do a huge amount of work to finish it. There was hardly anything done before, and we awarded the contract this year with the goal of starting construction in early 2026.”
The winning bidder has cut the time it will take to build the aquatic centre by one month. There will be two parts to the project. The first phase will span 13 months and start with the building of three indoor pools: one for swimming, one for teaching, and one with a spa for therapeutic treatments. The second phase, which will span eight months, would include building an outdoor recreational pool with planted spaces around it for people to use. There is also a new transformer substation that will power all of the pools and the buildings that will be built in the region around the Sports Complex in the future.
The indoor pool and gym that are already there will still be open to the public while the work is going on. Only some of the work will be done to modernise the changing rooms, bring the spectator stands up to date, improve the finishing and add new climate control to the current building.
The Sports City, which was built in the 1970s, will be refurbished next year. New spaces will be added to make it easier for public services to perform better in facilities that meet the new laws and technical requirements.Next Thursday, the Governing Board of the San Vicente del Raspeig City Council will give out the contract for Phase II of the Municipal Swimming Pool and Water Centre project.
