Following the dismantling of a criminal organisation that provided cocaine, marijuana, and hashish to numerous retail establishments in the province of Alicante, particularly in the capital and Elche, two men and two women, all Spanish nationals, between the ages of 24 and 54, were arrested in Novelda on Monday, January 12th.
Following several days of inquiry, the operation was conducted in the early afternoon in Novelda by the provincial brigade of the National Police of Alicante and the narcotics units of Elche.
When a police officer noticed that two of the detainees were transferring drugs from one car to another, he went up to the black Q5’s window to identify himself as an officer. The driver then accelerated and was dragged for a short distance until the car struck another, which belonged to a private person.
In addition to the two passengers being arrested and the police officer suffering minor, non-disabling injuries, the same automobile was found to contain 5.5 kg of cocaine, two kilogrammes of marijuana, another kilogramme of hashish, three precise scales and a vacuum sealer.
Two women were detained in the town of Almoradí as a result of the operation, which included two searches—one at an apartment in Novelda and another in an illegally occupied house in Aspe.
In addition to the driver’s claimed assault on an authority figure and endangerment of road safety, all of them are charged with drug trafficking and membership in a criminal organisation.
