Local police in Orihuela saved the two people who were in a car that flipped over following a serious accident on Calle Cala Dorada in the Punta Prima development on the shore.
At 4:24 p.m. on Tuesday, the 46-year-old driver crashed his car because he was distracted. He had 0.31 mg/l of alcohol in his system.
The 39-year-old passenger was hurt and had to be taken to the University Hospital of Torrevieja.
There were no more injuries reported, which is near to the N-332 and in a popular neighbourhood with shops and restaurants. It also has access to the footbridge that crosses the N-332. However, several residents’ cars were damaged.
The motorist will have to pay a 500 euro fine, lose 4 points on his licence, and pay for the damage and injuries he caused. The Local Police told people on social media, “If you drink, don’t drive.”
