The Alicante Youth Council will announce grants in February for young new drivers who received their licences in the second half of 2025, totalling €10,000 for the programme. These subsidies are meant to help young people aged 15 to 30 who are registered as Alicante residents achieve independence.
This new help programme is intended for people who received their licences between July and December, with the goal of providing coverage for all of 2025, following similar assistance granted to those who obtained their permits in the first part of the year. A total of 50 additional €200 grants will be granted, in addition to the 50 that were authorised in the first half of the year.
The Councillor for Youth, Carlos de Juan, underscored “the commitment of the government team to help young people become independent by promoting youth rental policies, financing their driving licence, and adding to other aid programmes that aim to promote important aspects for their development, such as language training and employment advice, in a cross-cutting effort from different municipal areas.”
The subsidies to cover the costs of obtaining any form of driver’s licence are directed at young people up to 30 years old who registered in Alicante between July 1st and December 31st, 2025. The maximum grant amount is 10,000 euros, which translates into a maximum of 200 grants of 200 euros per application.
Among the qualifications for receiving this assistance are being a member of a big or single-parent family, as well as having a disability higher than 33%. In the event of a tie, the youngest person is always given the advantage.
De Juan stated that “we are already working on a new call for applications, this time for all of 2026, which will be released in 2027.” The Youth Council’s goal is to transition to giving these driver’s licence subsidies through a single annual call for applications covering the entire calendar year.”
Applications for these awards can be made through the municipal electronic office alicante.es from the day after they are published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante (BOP).
