According to a statement from them, the Guardia Civil worked with firefighters and the Orihuela Local Police to rescue a Danish citizen who had fallen into a difficult-to-access rocky area in the Cabo Roig residential area on the Orihuela Costa.
On June 10th, at around 1:40 p.m., a Guardia Civil patrol at the Pilar de la Horadada station was informed of the fall of a person in a difficult-to-access region of the shore.
When they arrived at the scene, a woman led them to the location of the injured man: an eight-metre-high cliff between the breakwater and Playa Caleta.
The highly wet and steep terrain posed a significant risk to the operation. Given the urgency of the situation and the possibility that the rising tide would exacerbate the injured man’s condition, the cops opted to enter the scene.
Once the man was located, together with the first firefighters, they managed to move him to a safer and more stable area. Finally, at 2:00 p.m., officers from the Guardia Civil, the Fire Department, and the Orihuela Costa Local Police worked together to carefully lift the injured man onto a stretcher and carry him over 600 meters uphill to the evacuation point. There, he was treated by medical staff and transferred to Torrevieja Hospital.
