According to AENA, Murcia Region International Airport (AIRM) is “improving and expanding its commercial offering” by renovating and relocating its duty-free shop, as well as opening two new stores, one focused on gourmet products and the other on sweets and toys.
The purpose of these efforts, all located in the boarding area, is to provide passengers with a broader selection of shops with appealing designs that are in line with current airport trends, as well as to improve the user experience and promote regional products.
The new duty-free shop, Murcia Duty Free, has a total space of 190 m² and is the first item travellers will see after passing through security. This shop has been renovated with a new layout that incorporates the natural flow of customers towards the boarding area, as is common in many European airports.
In terms of merchandise, this new store has different sections for perfumes, cosmetics, international food, local products, spirits and souvenirs, among others. All of this is accomplished through spacious aisles and Murcian-inspired décor.
In addition, AIRM has recently built “La buena vida foodie,” a restaurant providing delicatessen items and featuring a tasting bar where travellers may experience local cuisine and wines from the Murcia region, including the Jumilla, Yecla, and Bullas labels, which are also for sale.
Similarly, travellers looking for a snack before their trip can have salted fish, Murcian cured meats, preserves, and a variety of traditional items. All in a 90 m² room designed as a gastro-bar.
Murcia Airport has opened ‘Tutti Frutti’, a 20-square-meter boutique selling sweets, toys, and stuffed animals, to the delight of both young and old travellers.
These new features add to Murcia Region International Airport’s commercial offerings, which already include four restaurants (Semba, Foods and Goods, Costa Coffee, and Subway) and six shops (two WhSmith stores, Duty Free, Tutti Frutti, Submarine, and La Buena Vida Foodie) spread across the terminal.
