The official signing of the project’s layout verification report on Tuesday morning, October 7th, marked the start of construction on La Nucía’s new Third Public Preschool and Primary School.
This new school will include two classes for two-year-olds, six for preschoolers, and twelve for primary school kids. It can hold up to 490 pupils.
The Valencian Regional Ministry of Education will put in €8,532,593.75, and the project should be done by the end of 2026.
The signing ceremony for the redesign was attended by Francisco J. Ávila, the architect who wrote the plans and the project manager; Jaume Sanchis, the head of construction management; and Francisco Torres, the UTE Prom 95 SL – Alcudia Servicios y Obras (Alcudia Services and Works Joint Venture) representative. Also present were the Councillor for Education, Sergio Villalba, and the Mayor of La Nucía, Bernabé Cano.
“We’re finally starting construction with this signature,” remarked Mayor Bernabé Cano. “This school has been wanted by the Nucia educational community for a long time, and it meets an urgent need because the other two schools are full.”
Also, because it is a residential neighbourhood near Benidorm, many children will be able to walk there, which will encourage sustainable transportation and cut down on the need for school buses.
The new school will be erected on an 8,860 m² piece of land owned by the city. It will be directly behind the Aldi store, between Sorolla and Benlliure streets.
There will be two main buildings in the complex: one for early childhood education and one for primary education.
There will be 3,876 square metres of space, including two classrooms for 2-year-olds, six classrooms for preschoolers, twelve classrooms for primary school students, a gym, and a big dining room with its own kitchen.
There will also be 4,734 square metres of outdoor space, which will include two multi-sport courts, a school garden, play places for kids, gardens, walking paths, and porches.
The centre will be able to hold up to 490 children overall. This will reduce the cost of getting to school and lessen the burden on current schools.
