A man was arrested on Wednesday, November 5th, in Murcia for stabbing his mother in the neck. She is now in the ICU at Arrixaca Hospital with significant injuries.
At 07:56 in the morning, the 112 Emergency Coordination Centre of the Region of Murcia got a call saying that a woman had been attacked with a knife at a residence in Santa María de Gracia, Murcia, and was badly hurt.
The accused attacker is her son, who was arrested for trying to cut the neck of the 58-year-old victim for reasons that have not been made public. The suspect, who is an adult, is said to have stabbed his mother three times in the neck.
Police said that the person who was arrested may have mental health issues. A forensic assessment, which the courts will probably ask for when the case goes to court, will determine this. People who know him well have told the police that his mental health problems are caused by his drug addiction.
A family member of the woman called 112 from Andalusia after getting a message from her son saying that emergency services needed to be brought to the spot. Sources close to the investigation said that the youngster never admitted to hurting anyone in that communication.
The location was patrolled by local police and national police, as well as a Mobile Emergency Unit with paramedics from the 061 Emergency and Urgent Care Management. The Murcia City Council Fire and Rescue Service was also called, although they didn’t need to do anything.
The 061 paramedics stabilised the woman, who suffered critical injuries, and then took her to the Virgen de la Arrixaca hospital in Murcia in the UME for admission to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
