The Calpe City Council’s Governing Board agreed this morning to change the Municipal Ordinance for the Protection of the Urban Environment in order to make the fines for dumping higher, up to 3,000 euros.
The city’s large urban area makes it easy for people to dump trash without permission and makes it harder for the city to collect it in an orderly way. As a result, the 2026 municipal budget contains two posts for environmental monitors with the power to punish those who dump things in places they shouldn’t. These monitors will be able to find people who are dumping things and give them the appropriate punishment when necessary.
People can drop off their pruning rubbish at the designated collection site (Punto Blanco) on Avenida del País Valencià. People who work in the field must carry their pruning rubbish to a dump that is allowed. You can’t throw away this kind of rubbish on public highways, empty lots, or open places, whether they are public or private.
