The Guardia Civil has taken two suspects into custody for their roles in three burglaries at hotels and restaurants. The events took place in Gandía, Xeraco, and La Font d’en Carrós.
Police started looking into a break-in at a bar in Font d’en Carrós in early September, after someone submitted a report. The criminals worked together to break the security shutter and get in. They broke into the gaming machines and the cash register and stole a lot of money. In the end, they drove away from the site.
The store’s surveillance cameras helped investigators to identify the vehicle the burglars used in their getaway. They confirmed with certainty that they had rented the car in Málaga.
With all the information gathered, two people who had done similar things before were found.
People thought they were behind previous robberies in the province of Valencia. So, researchers looked into robberies that happened in hotels and restaurants that had the same method of operation and happened around the same time.
Finally, the criminals were connected to two other robberies that happened in the early hours of September 15 in Xeraco and Cullera, both of which were also in hospitality businesses.
In addition to the damage to property, the three thefts cost a total of 5,000 euros.
In Málaga, a 34-year-old male and a 29-year-old woman from Spain were detained at the end of November. They are being charged with three counts of breaking and entering.
Agents from the Oliva-Gandía Main Station have been doing the investigation.
The Court of First Instance and Instruction number 6 of Malaga received the proceedings.
